BECAUSE SAMPLE SIZES CAN NEVER BE TOO SMALL

The 2004 All-Star Game ballot is online.

Assuming you believe the guy with the best stats this year deserves to be the starter regardless of prior accomplishment (a pretty silly thing to believe), here's who deserves to go by EqA as of this instant:

C
Javy Lopez
Paul LoDuca

1B
Jason Giambi
Jeff Bagwell

2B
Ronnie Belliard
Mark Loretta

3B
Troy Glaus
Aramis Ramirez

SS
Michael Young
Jack Wilson

OF
Carlos Beltran
Jermaine Dye
Manny Ramirez
Barry Bonds
Adam Dunn
Richard Hidalgo

DH
Travis Hafner

That's actually not as ridiculous a list as I was anticipating. Minor tweaking... Kaz Matsui actually gets the nod over Jack Wilson (giggle) when EqR is used instead of EqA, same with Hank Blalock over Glaus. Cut out Ron Belliard in favour of almost as hot Soriano and it's almost a defensible ballot. Move Marcus Giles in at 2B and it's actually good.

Just cross your fingers that Torre and McKeon take Henry Blanco as the reserve AL Catcher, and Craig Wilson over Todd Helton as the reserve NL 1st Baseman. And Jose Offerman would also make a good backup DH. Hey, it's only fair. They've earned it.
